Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 GLB250 vehicles. The front passenger air bag inflator and cushion may be improperly attached inside the air bag module, which could result in the air bag cushion tearing upon deployment.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the front passenger air bag module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 16, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA’s number for this recall is 2021060011.

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2020 GLB (247 platform) vehicles, the mounting of the inflator within the frontal passenger airbag module as well as the fastening of the airbag fabric to the module might not meet specifications. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the frontal passenger airbag module on the affected vehicles.
Prior to performing this Recall Campaign:
- VMI must always be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns, and perform accordingly.
- Please review the entire Recall Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

Work procedure
- Disconnect ground line from on-board electrical system battery.
- Replace front passenger airbag (AR91.60-P-0664MFB).
- Connect ground line to on-board electrical system battery.
- Switch ignition to position 1. To do so, press start button once without touching the brake pedal. Check whether airbag indicator lamp (A, figure 1) permanently goes off (B, figure 2) after a few seconds. The SRS check after airbag replacement is thus completely ensured!

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year (“MY”) 2020 GLB-Class vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles.
What is the CONCERN?
In certain Model Year (“MY”) 2020 GLB-Class vehicles, the mounting of the inflator within the frontal passenger airbag module, as well as the fastening of the airbag fabric to the module, might not meet specifications. In this case, in the event of a crash in which the airbag deploys, the airbag’s fabric might tear at the mounting location which could impair the airbag’s ability to protect the passenger occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
What will your DEALER DO?
An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the frontal passenger airbag module on the affected vehicles. This service will be provided free of charge. We are dedicated to always delivering the best customer experience, and respect for your time is a top priority. While the minimum repair time can be less than 1 hour, your dealer can provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit. As a matter of normal service process, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will also check for other repair measures which might be applicable to your vehicle and this may increase the required working time.
