This is to notify you of a new Recall Campaign to re-activate the communication module in 58 Model Year (“MY”) 2017-2020 CLA-Class, GLA- Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-door Coupe (117 118 156 166 167 190 205 213 222 253 257 290 platform) vehicles. Background |
|||
Issue | Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2017-2020 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT- Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-doors Coupe (117, 118, 156, 166, 167, 190, 205, 213, 222, 253, 257, 290 platform) vehicles, the communication module might have been inadvertently deactivated. Should the communication module be deactivated, the emergency call function “eCall” would not be available either as an automated feature, or by manually pressing the SOS-button in the vehicle. This would inhibit the occupant from contacting the call center in the event of an emergency. What We’re Doing | MBUSA will conduct a voluntary recall. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the configuration of the communication module on the affected vehicles and activate the

2021030005
Dear Mercedes-Benz Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year (“MY”) 2017-2020 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-door Coupe vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles.
What is the CONCERN?
In certain MY 17-20 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-doors Coupe vehicles, the communication module might have been inadvertently deactivated. What will your DEALER DO?

This service will be provided free of charge. We are dedicated to always delivering the best customer experience, and respect for your time is a top priority. While the minimum repair time can be less than 30 minutes, your dealer can provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit. As a matter of normal service process, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will also check for other repair measures which might be applicable to your vehicle and this may increase the required working time.
What should YOU DO?
For additional information and to schedule an appointment, please contact your preferred authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer at your earliest convenience. To locate authorized dealers see www.MBUSA.com/recall. Please mention you are scheduling an appointment to check the configuration of the communication module under Recall Campaign # 2021030005. The Mercedes-Benz dealerships remaining open for recall repairs and service are closely following the guidelines set forth by the CDC. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL 2021030005
This notice applies to your vehicle, VIN:
Reactivate Communication Module
NHTSA Recall #21V072
July, 2021
2021030005
Dear Mercedes-Benz Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year (“MY”) 2017-2021 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, E-Class Coupe, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-door Coupe vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles
.
What is the CONCERN?
In certain MY 17-21 CLA-Class, GLA-Class, GLE-Class, GLS-Class, AMG GT-Class, C-Class, E-Class, E-Class Coupe, S-Class, GLC-Class, CLS-Class, and AMG GT-Class 4-doors Coupe vehicles, the communication module might have been inadvertently deactivated. In this case the emergency call function “eCall” would not be available either as an automated feature, or by manually pressing the SOS-button in the vehicle. This would prevent the occupant from contacting the call center in the event of an emergency, potentially delaying emergency responders and increasing the risk of injury. After pressing the SOS-button to trigger an eCall, the customer would be informed by a warning message in the instrument cluster that the eCall is not functioning.
What will your DEALER DO?
An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the configuration of the communication module on the affected vehicles and activate the communication module, if necessary. This service will be provided free of charge. We are dedicated to always delivering the best customer experience, and respect for your time is a top priority. While the minimum repair time can be less than 30 minutes, your dealer can provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit. As a matter of the normal service process, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will also check for other repair measures which might be applicable to your vehicle and this may increase the required working time.
You may be asked for your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) which for your convenience is located above your name at the top of this letter.
Impacts from COVID-19: Your health and safety remain our top priority. The Mercedes-Benz dealerships remaining open for recall repairs and service are closely following the guidelines set forth by the CDC. Free Mobile Repair at your home or business as well as vehicle pick-up and delivery may be available. Your preferred authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer can confirm availability.
In the event that you are no longer the vehicle owner, or have had a change of address, please complete the reverse side and return the updated information in the enclosed envelope.

If for any reason a dealer is unable to remedy your situation, we are always happy to hear from you. Please contact us at 1-(800) FOR-MERCEDES (1-800-367-6372).
