Summary

Daimler Coaches North America (Daimler Coaches) is recalling certain 2011-2016 Setra S417 TC and 2012-2016 Setra S 407 CC vehicles equipped with a Ricon wheelchair lift. The red beacon lighting on the Threshold Warning System (TWS) may not be bright enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, “Platform Lift Systems.”

 

Remedy

Daimler Coaches will replace the TWS kits, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 7, 2024. Owners may contact Daimler Coaches at 1-416-624-3558. Daimler Coaches number for this recall is 86.20U24286A.

Chronology :

January 8, 2024: Ricon informed Daimler Coaches North America about the defect; February – April 2024:

Daimler Buses conducted investigation of the affected vehicles in which the lift had been installed; April 15, 2024: Daimler Buses GmbH determined a safety recall regarding this issue affecting certain Setra coaches.
