This check showed insufficient bonding of the dashboard surface to the dashboard carrier. A detailed analysis of the issue was immediately started together with the supplier. It was found that the issue was caused by an insufficient bonding force of the adhesive due to an error of the sub-supplier. The sub-supplier updated its processes to ensure that this error could no longer occur in the future, and a factory campaign was initiated to rework all vehicles within MBAG’s control. In the fall of 2022, further detailed analyses were conducted to identify the potential consequences as well as potentially affected vehicles in the field. On December 9, 2022, MBAG determined that a potential safety risk cannot be ruled out and decided to conduct a recall on the single identified vehicle. MBAG confirms there are no warranty claims, field or service reports, and other information (such as the numbers of deaths and/or injuries) related to this defect in the USA.
