A seat too close to the air bag increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash necessitating the deployment of the frontal passenger air bag.

Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021 E350, E450, E450 Wagon, E63S AMG, 2020 E63S AMG Wagon, and 2020-2021 E53 AMG vehicles. The passenger seat limiter may allow the seat to be positioned too close to the air bag.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will recalibrate the passenger seat limiter, free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA’s number for this recall is 2021040002.

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2020-2021 E-Class vehicles (213 platform), the passenger seat adjustment might not meet specifications. In this case, the range of movement for the front passenger seat could allow the passenger to position the seat too close in relation to the front passenger airbag. In the event a crash and the front passenger seat is pulled to the forward most position, the risk of injury of the front passenger seat occupant could be increased. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will perform the calibration of the passenger seat limiter on the affected vehicles.
Prior to performing this Recall Campaign:
- VMI must always be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns, and perform accordingly.
- Please review the entire Recall Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.

This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S423QH001, Document and Data Control, and MBUSA-SLP S424HH001, Control of Quality Records.
Note:
- Use Xentry 12/20 with all associated patches or higher.
- Follow the steps exactly as described in Xentry.
- Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
- Ensure all electrical consumers are switched-off.
- In the event of software/SCN update issues, contact Star Diagnosis User Help Desk via. XSF ticket.
- Refer to Star Diagnosis System (SDS) Best Practices Guide.
Procedure
- Connect XENTRY Diagnosis.
- Perform teach-in process in front passenger electrical seat adjustment control unit.
To do this, select menu item “Quick test view ⇒ N32/2 Electrical seat adjustment “front passenger” with memory function (ESE “front passenger”) ⇒ Adaptations ⇒ Teach-in processes ⇒ Normalization.
Then follow the user guidance in XENTRY Diagnosis.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain
Model Year 2020-2021 E-Class vehicles. Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles.
What is the CONCERN? On certain Model Year (“MY”) 2020-2021 E-Class vehicles, the front passenger seat adjustment might not meet
specifications. In this case, the range of movement for the front passenger seat could allow the passenger to position
the seat too close in relation to the front passenger airbag. This condition could increase the risk of injury to an occupant
seated in the front passenger seat in the event of a crash with a front passenger airbag deployment.
What will your DEALER DO? An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will perform the calibration of the passenger seat limiter on the affected vehicles.
This service will be provided free of charge. We are dedicated to always delivering the best customer experience,
and respect for your time is a top priority. While the minimum repair time can be less than 1 hour, your dealer can
provide you with a better estimate of the overall time for this service visit. As a matter of normal service process, an
authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will also check for other repair measures which might be applicable to your vehicle and
