Oil Feed Line to Turbocharger May Leak
An oil leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.

Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2018-2019 E63 AMG 4MATIC, E63S AMG 4MATIC Wagon, S63 AMG Cabrio 4MATIC, S63 AMG Coupe 4MATIC, and S63 AMG 4MATIC and 2019 G63 AMG 4MATIC, AMG GT63 4MATIC, AMG GT63S 4MATIC vehicles equipped with 4.0L 8-cylinder gasoline turbocharged engines. The oil feed line to the turbocharger may leak.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the oil feed line to the turbocharger, free of charge. The recall began March 20, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA’s number for this recall is 2020020023.

Given this notice, it is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to sell or lease any new MY18-19 E-Class, G-Class, GT-Class, and S-Class vehicles in dealer inventory covered by this notification until the vehicle has been repaired. Once the remedy is available, the vehicles will be flagged as “OPEN” and Work Instructions will be available in Star TekInfo. Once the repair is complete the vehicle may be sold or leased.
Loaner and demonstrator vehicles may continue to be driven, but must not be retailed until repaired. Additionally, given this notice, it is a violation of Federal Law for car rental companies to rent MY18-19 E-Class, G-Class, GT-Class, and S-Class vehicles covered by this notification until the vehicle has been repaired. |

Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Model Year (“MY”) 2018-2019 E-Class (213 platform), G-Class (463 platform), S-Class (222 platform), S-Class Coupe and Convertible (217 platform), and GT-Class 4-door Coupe (290 platform) vehicles equipped with 4.0L 8-cylinder gasoline-engines (M 177). Our records indicate that your vehicle is included in the affected population of vehicles.
What is the CONCERN? |
MBAG determined that on certain MY 2018-2019 E-Class (213 plat form), G-Class (463 platform), S-Class (222 platform), S-Class Coupe and Convertible(217 platform), and GT-Class 4-door Coupe (290 platform) vehicles equipped with 4.0L 8-cylinder gasoline-engines (M177), the material of the oil feed line to the turbochargers might not meet current production specifications. While driving, the oil feed line might leak. If oil should leak, it is possible that it could contact hot components in the engine compartment, thereby increasing the risk of fire. |
