ntial Description of Defect :
Description of the Defect : Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Sprinter vehicles, has determined that on certain Sprinter (907 platform) vehicles, the routing of the main wiring harness might not meet specifications.

Description of the Safety Risk : In this case, the wiring harness might contact the drive shaft, and chafing over time could result in a short circuit of various wires in the harness. Depending on the affected wire, a risk of fire, loss of propulsion without warning, or failure of the power steering and brake control system cannot be ruled out.
Description of the Cause : Due to a deviation in the production process, the main wiring harness might not have been routed as specified. Identification of Any Warning
that can Occur : The driver will not receive a warning due to the nature of the failure mechanism.

Description of Remedy Program : As a precautionary measure, an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will
inspect the routing of the main wiring harness on the affected vehicles and rework it, if necessary. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : There is no defect in part, only the routing of the wire harness. A change in the production procedure ensures that this issue can no longer occur in production from November 2022 onwards. However, the last potentially improperly reworked vehicle left the plant on March 9, 2023. Recall Schedule :

This is to no􀆟fy you of a Recall Campaign to inspect the main wiring harness rou􀆟ng on approximately 828 MY 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans. The recall campaign will be visible on the www.safercar.gov website and may generate ques􀆟ons from customers. All affected VINs will be flagged as “PENDING” in VMI and cannot be sold.
Background
Issue
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles, has determined that on certain Sprinter (907 pla􀆞orm) vehicles, the rou􀆟ng of the main wiring harness might not meet specifica􀆟ons. In this case, the wiring harness might contact the drive sha􀅌, and chafing over 􀆟me could result in a short circuit of various wires in the harness. Depending on the affected wire, a risk of fire, loss of propulsion without warning, or failure of the power steering and brake control system cannot be ruled out.
What We’re Doing
MBUSA is conduc􀆟ng a voluntary recall. As a precau􀆟onary measure, an authorized Mercedes-Benz Sprinter dealer will inspect the rou􀆟ng of the main wiring harness on the affected vehicles and rework it, if necessary.

The remedy is not yet available.

Addi􀆟onally, given this no􀆟ce, it is a viola􀆟on of Federal Law for rental companies to rent vehicles covered by this no􀆟fica􀆟on un􀆟l the vehicle has been repaired.
