This is to notify you of the Service Campaign Launch to inspect the weld seam on the trunk lid for a crack on 41 Model Year (“MY”)
2023 C-Class (206 platform) vehicles. The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as “OPEN” on February 16, 2024.
Background
Issue
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has
determined that on certain MY 2023 C-Class (206 platform) vehicles, the weld seam
on the trunk lid may not meet current production specifications. It is possible that a
crack may be evident on the weld seam.
What We’re Doing
MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will
inspect the weld seam on the trunk lid and replace the trunk lid, if necessary.
Parts
The remedy is available and can be performed as necessary. Estimated
replacement rate is expected to be ~20%.

Inspect Weld Seam on Trunk Lid for Crack
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that
on certain MY 2023 C-Class (206 platform) vehicles, the weld seam on the trunk lid may not meet
current production specifications. It is possible that a crack may be evident on the weld seam. An
authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will inspect the weld seam on the trunk lid and replace the trunk
lid, if necessary.
Prior to performing this Campaign:
 VMI must be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on
a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns and perform accordingly.
 Please review the entire Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.
Approximately 41 vehicles are affected.

Check/Test Procedure
1. Inspect the weld seam on trunk lid (Figure 1, 1) at the depicted location (Figure 1, A) for a possible crack.
Weld seam must be checked in the direction of travel of weld.

Work Procedure
1. Replace trunk lid (Figure 1, 1).
