Perform Injector Coding This is to notify you of an Emission Service Campaign launch to update the SCN coding for SCR and VGS on 570 Model Year (“MY”) 2012 S-Class (221 platform) vehicles. The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as “OPEN” on December 12, 2023.
Background
Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2012 S-Class (221 platforms) vehicles, the injector codes Issue What We’re Doing Parts might no longer be stored in the engine control unit software after installation of the Approved Emission Modification (AEM). The cached injector code may have been lost due to a communication error during installation of the AEM. Customers may experience the MIL illumination or in rare cases, increased engine noise or rough running.
MBUSA will conduct an Emission Service Campaign in which an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will recode the correct injector codes to the engine control unit on the affected vehicles
Parts are not required for this campaign since the remedy is software based

Approximately two weeks after the posting of this NCU, a letter will be sent to owners notifying them of this emission service campaign. Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC A Mercedes-Benz Group AG Company One Mercedes-Benz Drive Sandy Springs, GA 30328 770.705.0600 2 Campaign No. 2023060006, December 2023 TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS SUBJECT: Model S-Class (221 platforms) Model Year 2012 Perform Injector Coding Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2012 S-Class (221 platforms) vehicles, the injector codes might no longer be stored in the engine control unit software after installation of the Approved Emission Modification (AEM). The cached injector code may have been lost due to a communication error during installation of the AEM. Subsequently, during the renewed run of the AEM, no injector code could be read and therefore no code was stored in the engine control unit. Prior to performing this Campaign:
• VMI must be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns, and perform accordingly.
• Please review the entire Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described. Approximately 570 vehicles are affected. Order No. P-SC-2023060006 2 Perform Injector Coding • Always use the latest XENTRY Diagnosis software release with all available add-ons.
• Follow the operation steps exactly as described in XENTRY Diagnosis.
• Use a charger to ensure sufficient power supply to the vehicle’s on-board electrical battery system
(greater than 12.5 V).
• If XENTRY Diagnosis is already connected to the vehicle, start with Work Procedure step 2.
If two or more software updates or SCN codings are performed during a single workshop visit, operation items 02-4762 and 02-5058 may be invoiced
only on one of the workshop orders. Check/test procedure 1. Connect XENTRY/DAS Diagnosis.
2. Check the injection quantity adjustment values of fuel injectors.
To do this, select menu item “Control units – Drive – CDI 60LS–Common Rail Diesel Injection – Actual values – Fuel system – “Adjustment of Injector injection quantity “.
The injection quantity adjustment values of fuel injectors in XENTRY may not start with “AAAA….” . a. Entries start with “AAAA….”: Carry out work procedure.
b. Entries do not start with “AAAA….”: End measure. Work Procedure 1. Remove air filter housing on left and right. For basic data, see AR09.10-P-1150SXI. 2. Read off injection quantity adjustment values (codings) at all six fuel injectors
