The vehicles will be visible and flagged in VMI as “OPEN” on August 26, 2022. Background Issue Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2012-2016 GLK-Class, E-Class, ML-Class, GLE-Class, and GL-Class (204, 212 and166 platforms) vehicles, an incorrect NOx sensor, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst and/or Particulate Matter (PM) sensor may have been installed, which may not correspond to the specifications set forth in the “BlueTEC update” Approved Emission Modification (AEM) program. The incorrect hardware may potentially result in increased exhaust gas emissions. What We’re Doing MBUSA will conduct an Emission Service Campaign in which an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check and replace (if necessary), the necessary exhaust system hardware on the affected vehicles. Parts Parts are available and may be ordered as necessary. Approximately two weeks after the posting of this NCU, a letter will be sent to owners notifying them of this emission service campaign. Campaign No. 2022080007, August 2022 TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ CENTERS SUBJECT: Various Models Model Year 2012-2016 Check Exhaust System Hardware Mercedes-Benz AG (“MBAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain Model Year (“MY”) 2012-2016 GLK-Class, E-Class, ML-Class, GLE-Class, and GL-Class (204, 212 and 166 platforms) vehicles, an incorrect NOx sensor, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst and/or Particulate Matter (PM) sensor may have been installed, which may not correspond to the specifications set forth in the “BlueTEC update” Approved Emission Modification (AEM) program. Prior to performing this Campaign:  VMI must always be checked before performing campaigns to verify that the campaign is required on a specific vehicle. Always check for any other open campaigns, and perform accordingly.  Please review the entire Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described. Approximately 70 vehicles are affected. Order No. P-SC-2022080007 This bulletin has been created and maintained in accordance with MBUSA-SLP S423QH001, Document and Data Control, and MBUSA-SLP S424HH001, Control of Quality Record 2 P-SC-2022080007 Check installed item numbers for NOx sensors, soot particulate (PM) sensor, Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and SCR catalyst; replace if necessary Check/test procedure Only perform the check/test procedures mentioned below and shown in the list starting on page 5. The stamped item numbers on the dDiesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and SCR catalyst do not match the order numbers in the parts catalog. Individual or multiple item numbers of the parts installed in the vehicle may not be identical. Search for the VIN number with CTRL+F and determine the check/test procedure in the list starting on page 5. 1. Check part numbers of both NOx sensors and the soot particulate sensor. The controller unit must be removed because the part number is on the backside. To do this, partially loosen the side underfloor paneling (AR61.XX-P-XXXX*) * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model. Check part number on DPF. To do this, remove the bottom rear engine compartment lining (AR61.20-P-1105*) * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model. The readable part number on the DPF is only for reference with the parts table on page 5 and 6 and does not match the order number in the electronic WIS parts catalog. Figure 3 (example for model 204) 3. Check part number on SCR catalyst. The readable part number of the SCR catalyst is only for reference with the parts table on page 5 and 6 and does not match the order number in the electronic WIS parts catalog. Figure 4 (example for model 166) 4. Compare the item number of the affected component parts actually installed in the vehicle with the item number shown in the list starting on page 5. The installed item number must be identical to the item number shown in the list. a. Installed item number in the vehicle is not identical to the list: Carry out corresponding operation step 1, 2, 3 or 4 in the work procedure. b. Installed item number in the vehicle is identical to the list: End measure. 4 P-SC-2022080007 Work Procedure 1. Replace NOx sensor(s) (AR14.40-P-2038*). * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model. This may only be done if the item number read off does not match the item number shown in the list. 2. Replace soot particulate sensor (AR49.10-P-7100*). * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model. This may only be done if the item number read off does not match the item number shown in the list. 3. Replace DPF (AR14.40-P-1000*). * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model. This may only be done if the item number read off does not match the item number shown in the list. 4. Replace SCR catalyst (AR14.40-P-2006*). * Select the WIS document according to the vehicle model.
